2010-2011 Annual Report
Dear Friends:
Results from the 2010-2011 academic year clearly reflect the tradition of education Cardinal Ritter High School is known for. Our superior levels of academic success were demonstrated by a 95% graduation rate and 39% of seniors earning Honor Diplomas which generated $4.4 million in college scholarship awards. In addition, our End of Course Assessments (ECA) and ISTEP results showed passing rates above 89% that has earned Cardinal Ritter High School the highest rating of Exemplary Progress from Indiana Department of Education. Our dual credit program with Marian University continues to expand with over 397 hours earned by our student in the 2010-2011 academic year. We are also proud of our state champion brain game team and two national merit finalists whose noted distinctions reflect the dedicated efforts and aspirations of our students.
To support and expand our tradition of education and to enhance our academic mission, Cardinal Ritter High School began a four year approach to raise $3.3 million. This campaign, title CREATE, Cardinal Ritter Expanding A Tradition of Education, is designed to fund three focus areas, academics, accessibility and physical assets. Through the academic component, we are developing students into life long learners by integrating technology into the learning process, improving instructional practices and expanding course offerings. Maintaining educational costs and increasing tuition support provides greater accessibility to our quality education which is a major component of our overall mission. Finally, the campaign addresses the need for planning and implementing facility upgrades that promotes our Catholic identity and provides a physical environment conducive to growing students in spirit, mind and body. Through the completion of the first year of this campaign, contributions and pledges have surpassed $800,000 and we are working diligently toward reaching the full campaign goal.
We are positioned to implement initiatives in the three focus areas as donations are received. In the coming years, the high school will increase its offering of Chinese classes as an exciting component of our foreign languages. Through our strong partnership with Marian University, we are coordinating an expansion of our science curriculum to include a life science specialty with the anticipation of accessing resources associated with the start-up of the medical school at the university. Finally, from a facility perspective, we will be renovating our athletic track and field commencing in the summer of 2012.
We are very appreciative and thankful for the sacrifice and commitment of our dedicated donors. Your combined efforts produced the largest annual contribution received by the school and signified a solid affirmation as to the effectiveness of our actions toward the achievement of our mission. As we continue through the remaining years of the CREATE initiative, your participation and support will augment our work to redefine our tradition of education and enhance our leadership role as a 21st Century school.
