“But the greatest among you shall be your servant.”
-Matthew 23:11
To freely and willingly serve others is a necessary condition of being a disciple of Jesus Christ. Our Lord makes clear both by His words and His actions that our earthly lives are meant to be poured out in service to others and that our Eternal salvation will be determined, in part, by how lovingly and freely we do so.
Unfortunately, the current pandemic greatly limits our ability to reach out beyond the scope of our own households and schools into the wider community. Nevertheless, the call to serve Christ and others is not a conditional one. We are called to serve in every age and season. Therefore, Cardinal Ritter High School has temporarily modified its Christian Service program for the 2020-2021 school year so that:
These guidelines will help us continue to fulfill our mission, a mission that includes “challenging students to engage in charitable stewardship of their unique talents and abilities.”
Service-Learning Leaders
Our Service Learning Leaders is an organization of student leaders who are dedicated to the mission of service in our school, community, and the world. To become part of this team, students must fill out an application in the spring and be interviewed by a small committee of teachers. Service Leaders are role models for our student body who show dedication and desire to the importance of service. The committee looks for individuals who are selfless, dedicated, and hard-working. This group verifies service hours, searches for service opportunities to share with the student body, and plans/organizes class service projects.
